Black Mark

As a senior at Del Campo High School in Fair Oaks California, fourteen year NBA veteran and emerging media star Matt Barnes was a victim of a heinous hate crime. The Black Mark incident set off a firestorm of activity, highlighted by the arrival of the NAACP on-site and reporters from across the country who descended on Del Campo, thrusting young Barnes and the story into the national spotlight.

Technology served as a cornerstone in conceptualizing the entire BLACK MARK project. For the pilot episode, we utilized cutting-edge advancements in Unreal Engine technology, combined with a digital volume and parallax camera techniques, to craft entirely new cinematic environments. These tools allowed us to seamlessly integrate our hero's journey into a visually immersive narrative. In the pilot, the protagonist not only curates his life in real-time within a digitally-designed darkroom but also adopts an omniscient perspective, reflecting on his past as he arrives in the surreal world of "Sactopia."

BLACK MARK won "Best Sports Documentary" at the 2024 Oscar Qualifying Hollyshorts Film Festival.
